Vitamin K2 is a fat soluble vitamin originally discovered as being responsible for blood coagulation. Recently, further benefits have been studied which show the importance of vitamin K2 in processing calcium. Vitamin K2 works synergistically with vitamin D to move calcium into the correct areas of the body such as bones and teeth and away from arteries and soft tissues. The MK-4 form is derived from geraniol extract making it soy free and ideal for individuals with a soy allergy who wish to supplement with this important vitamin. Vitamin K2 in the MK-4 has been shown to reduce the activity of rheumatoid synovial cells reducing the biochemical markers of disease activity. The MK-4 form has been recommended to help with rheumatoid arthritis.
