Uridine (UMP)

  • Cognitive enhancer
  • Protect the brain and improve memory
  • Improve mood

Uridine Monophosphate (also known as UMP) is one of four components of ribonucleic acid. It is a Nootropic compound commonly found in tomatoes, beer and breast milk, although Uridine Monophosphate has better bioavailability than dietary sources of Uridine. UMP can bypass the blood-brain barrier and when taken orally causes a production of CDP Choline. It works together with fish oil and many Choline sources, when they work together it can enhance and increase cognition to higher levels in the brain. One of the most common Choline sources used with Uridine Monophosphate is CDP Choline. Uridine Monophosphate enhances the synthesis of CDP Choline, which leads to a higher phosphatidylcholine production, and helps the brain function to its optimum level.

Uridine Monophosphate has shown to have anti-depressant properties and increases the levels of dopamine in the brain, in doing so this improves moods. It is also important for brain development, that important it is used in baby formulas and as Natural Uridine levels in the body decrease as we age, UMP also helps the normal functioning of the brain. It can help improve memory and learning. Also, it has been shown to increase cognition without causing anxiety or mood swings for those with ADHD.
