Our Iron tablets use the chelated bisglycinate (ferrous bisglycinate) form which has been reacted with the amino acid glycine for optimal absorption in the gastrointestinal tract. This form is more gentle on the stomach compared to the more common ferrous fumarate which can cause nausea, vomiting, constipation and diarrhoea.
An iron deficiency can manifest as weakness, fatigue, shortness of breath on exertion, dizziness, tinnitus or drowsiness. Athletes need approximately 1.5 times as much iron as non-athletes. If you are a vegan or vegetarian you may need to supplement with 2 times the NRV (Nutritional Reference Value).
